The mission of Student Rights and Responsibilities is to promote concepts of fairness and due process while striking a balance between community standards and individual behavior through the educational development of students. Honesty, integrity and personal responsibility are foundational to the judicial experience. Restoration of status within the community and reconciliation with community norms and values are guiding principles in the sanctioning process. Discipline at Illinois Wesleyan provides an educational process rather than one that is solely punitive. Consistent with this purpose, sanctions are developed to meet the needs of the individual while also maintaining the norms and values of the community.
"The University through its policies, programs and practices is committed to diversity, social justice and environmental sustainability."
