Academic Regalia and Graduation Announcements---distributed on April 3 and 4
Your regalia (cap, gown, and hood, which reflect the degree you will receive) and
graduation announcements (compliments of the IWU Alumni Association) will be distributed
on Monday, April 3 and Tuesday, April 4 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. in the Hansen Student
Center. Some organizations provide Honors Cords for members and your organization
will provide information to you if they do so.
AFTER APRIL 4, your order will be held at the Bookstore in the Hansen Student Center
and you may pick it up during their business hours, which are 8-6 Monday-Thursday,
8-5 Friday, and 10-5 Saturday. If none of those times meet your schedule, please contact
the Bookstore for other arrangements. The last opportunity to pick up your regalia
is before the ceremony on Sunday, April 30 at the Bookstore, which will be open 9-4
Regalia must be worn for the Honors Convocation on Wednesday, April 12 and Commencement
on Sunday, April 30 (see below for information on those events).
Senior Class Dinner---April 10
You have received the invitation to a formal dinner in honor of your graduation on
Monday, April 10 at 6 p.m. in the Main Lounge of the Memorial Center. This event
is a wonderful opportunity for you to reminisce with classmates, faculty, and staff
as you are welcomed into the IWU Alumni Association.
Honors Convocation---April 12
The 2006 Honors Convocation is at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 12 in Westbrook Auditorium
of Presser Hall. The Convocation is dedicated especially to the Class of 2006 and
also to all students who have earned scholastic and activity honors and honor society
membership. Professor Mary Ann Bushman, recipient of The Pantagraph 2006 Award for
Teaching Excellence, will be the speaker with your class president, Jessica Dixon,
All members of the senior class are invited to participate in the processional and
recessional, in full academic regalia (with tassels worn on the right side). Please
meet in the Music Building, room 161, at 10:45 a.m. There is no specific order for
the processional line up; you may stand where you wish. During the Convocation Invocation
and Benediction, men should remove their caps.
You and your family will soon receive a Commencement mailing that provides much information,
which will also be posted on the IWU web site at www.iwu.edu/commencement An additional e-mail will be sent to you on or about April 20 with more specifics
about the Commencement ceremony itself.
PLEASE NOTE: Commencement is held outdoors, even in light rain or cool temperatures.
If it is moved to the Shirk Center because of heavy rain or severe weather alerts,
there is very limited seating available for your family and guests. The stage and
chair seating for Graduates and Faculty is located on the floor of the Performance
Arena along with some handicapped-accessible seating, leaving mostly bleacher seating
To ensure that each Graduate can have family or friends in attendance, we provide
each graduate's family with FOUR tickets for reserved seating in the Performance Arena.
Those tickets will be mailed to the family in the Commencement mailing mentioned above.
We regret that we cannot provide extra tickets, but we feel it is most fair to allow
each Graduate to have some family and friends in attendance rather than a first-come
seating arrangement wherein some families would be excluded entirely.
