CIRP Freshman Survey

For over 15 years, IWU has participated in the Cooperative Institutional Research Program (CIRP), developed and administered by the Higher Education Research Institute (HERI) at the University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA).

The Freshman Survey has been administered across the United States to entering college students for forty years. It is considered to be the most authoritative source available on the demographic characteristics, high school experiences, attitudes, and beliefs of students entering college.

Participating colleges and universities can track trends in the responses of their entering students over time and compare their responses to those of entering students within HERI-defined peer groups. Since 2002, IWU has been classified in the very highly selective private college group (institutions whose entering students score 1250 or higher on the SAT).

For more information on IWU's participation in the CIRP, contact Dr. Michael D. Thompson, Associate Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness at mthomps4@iwu.edu.
