Social Media Manager
This role holds the primary responsibility for authentically promoting Illinois Wesleyan's brand and connecting the Titan community on all flagship social media platforms, with a particular focus on writing and creating content compelling to prospective students. Advises and collaborates with other departments to ensure a consistent social media strategy representing IWU. Manages the University's in-house digital marketing efforts on strategic social media platforms. Monitors social media conversations as part of the University's crisis communications efforts. Maintains various additional digital platforms representing the University, supporting strategic communications and marketing goals. This is a full time, 12 month, on-campus position. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage flagship social media accounts representing the University; develop & implement a comprehensive social media strategy to promote IWU, drive potential enrollment and boost alumni engagement; evaluate new and evolving social media platforms to gauge University implementation; write and create multimedia content appropriate for various social media platforms; monitor performance metrics to guide strategies; set social media content calendars; collaborate with communications and marketing teams to maximize effective content
- Monitor and assess social media mentions and inquiries on behalf of the University; support crisis communications efforts; monitor social media conversations affecting the University reputation and advise leadership as necessary; as appropriate, manage responses to inquiries, tags and messages
- Maintain various digital platforms aimed at campus engagement, student recruitment and retention, and supporting broad communication and marketing goals; optimize content on the campus Intranet portal to serve campus needs and promote prospective and current student engagement; manage IWU “Google My Business” profiles and similar third-party tools; optimize interactive map content and utilization to improve visitor experience; manage campus digital display screens to promote consistent visual identity standards
- Advise and offer guidance to departments across the University on best practices and brand guidelines for subordinate social media accounts; manage in-house digital marketing efforts on strategic social media platforms; set up and monitor results of advertising campaigns for campus partners, such as Advancement
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s required in related field of study; English, Communications, Marketing
- Minimum of one year related experience
- Understanding of various social media platforms and effective communication and marketing strategies
- Skilled communicator comfortable with digital platform technologies
