Assistant Director of Esports
The Assistant Director of Esports recruits, selects, and guides potential students through the admissions and enrollment process. This role primarily coaches and mentors the Overwatch team, supports daily program marketing, facility operations, and oversees tournaments, events, and esports summer camps. In partnership with the Director, the Assistant Director collaborates with campus stakeholders in admissions, financial aid, academic affairs and student affairs. Responsibilities:
- Coaching and team management; applying improvement techniques and developing lessons to help students in their respective esports games and in the team environment; coordinate and effectively prepare for matches, practices and scrimmages; planning and scheduling practice times, match times, reschedules and reviews, ensuring calendar and schedule are synchronized for teams and program staff; logistical coordination of events and travel
- Program recruitment; recruit incoming students into the Esports program, including meeting with families and acting as a representative of the program; reach out to schools to set-up virtual or in-person meetings with prospective students; coordinate with Admissions and Financial Aid to ensure every prospective student receives comprehensive support and consideration in pursuing enrollment at IWU
- Student support; regular check-ins and advising them on pursuing topics they are passionate about; ensure retention remains a priority through consistent communication and individual to each student; handle student concerns and direct them to the appropriate resources; manage student staff
- Facility development; coordinate necessary maintenance and support from campus constituents such as IT, maintenance, campus safety and physical plant; rearrange the space and various rooms in a way most conducive for students and staff; keep facility organized
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required; experience at a professional, academy or collegiate level may substitute for some education
- Minimum of one year related experience; preference for recruitment skills and student mentorship
- Knowledge of coaching Overwatch, understanding of collegiate esports, tournament and event hosting logistics
- Standard shift is typically Monday through Friday, 1pm to 9pm; time may be adjusted or flexed based on operational need
