Assistant Men's Soccer Coach

Illinois Wesleyan University, a NCAA Division III institution and member of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin, invites applications for the full-time, 10-month position of Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach.  Assist the head coach in all aspects of the program, including, recruiting, team-management, training, tactics, travel and other duties as assigned by the Head Coach and Athletic Director. This is a full time, on-campus position. Generous benefits include health, retirement, considerable time off and access to multiple tuition programs for self and dependents.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Player/individual team development; assist in maintaining team and individual needs throughout the year; help develop and teach team tactics, assess the effectiveness, and suggest adjustments; work with head coach on daily practice/training schedule and provide opportunities for skill development; assist head coach in inventory and maintaining of equipment
  • Recruiting for University & program; identify potential student athletes via outreach to high school, club coaches recruiting sites and research; coordinate recruit visits, travel to high schools and club competitions; execute recruiting plan via social media, phone calls, emails, mailings and in-person/on-campus to bring in 8-10 student athletes per year; assist head coach in creating developing marketing messaging and materials for program
  • Retention of student athletes in program; meet regularly with student athletes about academics, life and goals; create positive balance between athletic and academic responsibilities; mentor and assist students in finding resources for development and planning; create and foster positive experience for all students in the program
  • Alumni relations and fundraisers with former men’s soccer student athletes, families, and friends of the program; regular communication and assist in fundraising efforts; coordinate alumni soccer events to maintain connections 

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • Minimum of three years of experience at the collegiate level or high school, head coaching preferred
  • Overnight and weekend hours, as needed
  • Valid driver’s license

Salary $36k-$40k, based on experience
