Her academic journey then took her to the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where she earned a master’s degree in Bilingual/English as a Second Language (ESL), followed by a doctoral degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara. During her graduate studies, she worked with students from kindergarten through 12th grade on both the East and West Coasts of the United States.

Sabiha’s primary research focuses on developing reading and writing assessments for K–12 students in the United States, with a particular emphasis on multimodal assessments for K–8 learners. At its core, her work reflects a deep curiosity about critical reading and writing abilities across disciplines. She is delighted to join Illinois Wesleyan University, where she continues her commitment to mentoring student teachers and advising and teaching education majors.
