To the Class of 2022 and Their Families

January 12, 2022

I am pleased to report that Illinois Wesleyan University will celebrate Commencement on Sunday, May 1, 2022, at the close of our 172nd year.  Although the ceremony is a few months away, I am writing to provide some information to help you plan for this important event.

At this time we plan to hold the ceremony in-person, and there are no tickets or guest limits for the ceremony. This may change due to health & safety protocols, so please check the Commencement website periodically for updates. Weather permitting, the ceremony will be held outdoors beginning at 1:00 p.m. and typically lasts for about two hours. In the event of heavy rains or severe weather alerts, we will relocate the ceremony indoors to the Shirk Center on campus.

The University is pleased to cover the rental cost for the caps and gowns that graduates wear. Ordering for these items as well as announcements, diploma frames, photos, etc. will be available onsite in the Hansen Student Center on Tuesday, January 18 from 8:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Online ordering will also be available January 18-March 1 using this link: IWU Commencement 2022 . Students who have conflicts or are studying off-campus should order their academic regalia online or contact the IWU Bookstore to make other arrangements before March 1. Delivery of the cap and gown orders will occur on Wednesday, April 5, 2022 from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. in the Hansen Student Center.

Additional information will be posted on the Commencement website over the next few months. However, if you have questions, please contact our Chief of Staff, Julie Anderson, at janders3@iwu.edu or (309) 556-3780.

I hope this final year for the IWU Class of 2022 is filled with joy and achievement. I look forward to greeting you at Commencement.

With best regards,
