Tony Bankston '91
Dean of Admissions
Tony graduated from Illinois Wesleyan in 1991 as an English and History double major and began working as an admission counselor at IWU in July of 1992. He competed in varsity soccer as a student and coached both the men's and women's soccer teams from 1994-1999. While enrolled at IWU, Tony was also involved with WESN (radio station), campus literary magazines, and intramural sports.
During his eighteen year career, Tony has sat on numerous panels advising school boards on the use of class rank in selective college admission, been active in the national dialogue on the use of standardized testing and test-optional policies in college admission, and presented on everything from the liberal arts and selective college admission to essay writing and the college decision process. Tony currently sits on the Admissions Practices Committee for the Illinois Association for College Admission Counseling (IACAC) and recently finished his third term as a college delegate to the National Association of College Admission Counseling (NACAC), serving as chief delegate in 2008 and 2009.
