Course Scheduling and Registration

Students must meet with their advisor before being able to register for classes for the following term. Students should contact their advisor in advance of registration to discuss their academic plan, progress towards earning their degree, and have Registration Hold Removed in order to access the MyIWU registration system. Students will be unable to register with Registration Hold in place.

Preparation is key to ensuring that the advising and registration processes proceed smoothly, and both students and advisors play an important role in this preparation.

Students may:

  • review Registration Procedures from the Office of the Registrar;
  • generate the degree audit to track their progress;
  • review the catalog to look up the classes they are interested in taking;
  • sketch out potential schedules by looking at the Schedule of Classes;
  • formulate questions for their advisors; and
  • fill out a draft of the Course Selection Form.

Advisors may:

  • review Registration Procedures from the Office of the Registrar;
  • generate degree audits for their advisees;
  • view their advisees' transcripts;
  • review their advisees' files;
  • create notes of information to provide to the student (if needed);
  • look over the Schedule of Classes to see what courses are being offered for the particular term; and
  • make certain the Course Selection Form is readily available.
