Senior Recitals

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan School of Music will present a series of student recitals on Saturday, April 20. Senior soprano Shelby Jones ’13, from Bloomington, will begin the series with a performance at 1 p.m. A euphonium performance by senior Samuel Sterbenc ’13, from Homewood, Ill., will follow at 5.pm. Both recitals will take place in Westbrook Auditorium of Presser Hall (1210 N. Park St., Bloomington) and are free and open to the public.

Jones will perform “Lamento della Ninfa” by Claudio Monteverdi, “Songs of Songs” by Curtis Bryant, “Concerto for Coloratura Soprano Op. 82” by Reinhold Glière and “Widmung” by Robert Schumann. She will also perform “Die Mainacht” by Johannes Brahms, “Rastlose Liebe” and “Die junge Nonne” by Franz Schubert, “For Your Delight,” “Postcard From Spain” and “Come Ready and See Me” by Richard Hundley and “Dieu! quel fisson court dans mes veines?” by Charles Gounod.

Sterbenc will perform “Carissima Mia” by Helen Johnston, “Faustbuch” by Elizabeth Raum and “Telemann Fantasia in D minor TWV 40:2-13” by Georg Philipp Telemann. He will also perform “Gabriel’s Oboe” by Ennio Morricone and “Carmen Fantasy” by Georges Bizet, arranged by Luc Vertommen.
