BLOOMINGTON, Ill.— Polish your resume, practice your handshake and suit up for the Illinois Wesleyan Internship Fair on Wednesday, Oct. 3 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Memorial Center's Young Main Lounge (104 University St., Bloomington). With over 50 employers attending, the fair offers students the opportunity to explore local internship opportunities.
"Employers are expecting to see internships on resumes," said Laurie Diekhoff, assistant director/internship coordinator at the Hart Career Center. "Internships allow students to gain valuable skills and career-related experience as well as establish professional contacts to begin networking."
There will be a wide array of internships for all majors and levels of experience. Employers range from local museums and social services agencies to health care organizations and large national corporations. Students can also learn about volunteer opportunities at some of the organizations.
Some of the companies participating will include: the McLean County Museum of History, the Children's Discovery Museum, OSF St. Joseph, The Baby Fold, Heartland Head Start, State Farm, Caterpillar, KPMG, Prairie State Legal Services and the Community Cancer Center. A full listing of employers attending the fair can be found at www.iwu.edu/ccenter/students/pdf/IWUInternFair10-3-12v3.pdf.
Additional information on internships can be found on the Hart Career Center's website at http://www.iwu.edu/ccenter/students/internships_general.html.
