BLOOMINGTON, Ill.—The Springfield Business Journal has named Amy Bulpitt, Class of 2003, Matthew Dearing, Class of 2000, and J.P. Fyans III, Class of 2002, among its "Forty Under 40" business community leaders.
Selected from more than 200 nominations, the Illinois Wesleyan graduates were featured in the July 2012 edition based on their contributions to the Springfield area and its surrounding communities. According to an article written by Brant Mackey, publisher of the journal, the selectees "have the ability and dedication to change and to preserve the face of our community landscape."
Bulpitt is vice president – Legal Affairs Division Responsibility Officer for the Springfield Referral and Central Illinois Divisions and associate general counsel for the Sisters Health System at St. John's Hospital in Springfield. She received a bachelor of arts degree in history from IWU, a juris doctor, Health Law Certificate from St. Louis University School of Law in 2006, and is an executive MBA candidate at Washington University's Olin School of Business with an anticipated completion date of May 2014. Bulpitt is a member of the State Bar of Illinois; the U.S. District Court, Central District of Illinois; the Illinois Bar Association; American Health Lawyers Association and Illinois Health Lawyers Association.
Dearing, who received a bachelor's degree in physics from IWU and has worked toward a master's degree in physics at Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y., is in Operations and Custom Jewelry Design at Denney Jewelers in Springfield. He is a member of the Gemological Association of Great Britain, Sunrise Rotary Club, a board member of the Springfield Theatre Centre, a board member of the Springfield Ballet Company and a producer for Dynamic Patterns Theatre.
Fyans III, who is an attorney for Teamsters Local 916 in Springfield, received a bachelor of arts degree in history with a minor in psychology at Illinois Wesleyan. He received a juris doctor degree from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago. He is licensed to practice law in Wisconsin as well and before the United States District Court, Northern District of Illinois. He is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, Labor and Employment Law Section; Wisconsin State Bar Association; The Illinois Government Bar Association; Italian American Society and an adjunct professor at Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield.
