Education

Lisabeth M. Searing received her B.S.N. from Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing at Case Western Reserve University. She then obtained her M.P.H.from the School of Public Health at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she also received her M.S. from the College of Nursing and her Ph.D.

Biography

Before coming to Illinois Wesleyan, Dr. Searing was the Coordinator of Research Programs at the Center for Prevention Research and Development at the University of Illinois. She also has worked as a lecturer and teaching assistant at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a research assistant for the Health Research & Policy Centers at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

She has given scholarly presentations on public health campaigns related to underage drinking, tobacco use, and safe sex, and on assessing community needs. Her research has involved efforts to prevent fetal alcohol spectrum disorder, prevent substance abuse, promote safe and drug free schools, and the Illinois Clean Indoor Air Project.

Honors & Memberships

Dr. Searing has been a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the International Honor Society of Nursing, since 1994.
