“A Class Act” is a semi-autobiographical story about composer and lyricist Edward Kleban, who was most famous for receiving the 1976 Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize for Drama for the lyrics to “A Chorus Line.” Kleban’s hilarious, yet heartbreaking journey is dramatized in the musical, which features Kleban’s never-before produced songs. Using the combination of flashbacks and reverse-time, “A Class Act” provides a behind the scenes glimpse at the creation and production of a musical.
Associate Professor of Theater Arts Jean MacFarland Kerr will direct the production, alongside Assistant Director Sarah Menke and Assistant Choreographer Brittany Ambler.
Cast members include: Ben Mulgrew (Ed Kleban), Alec Sutton (Lehman Engel), Marek Zurowski (Bobby), Ian Stewart (Michael Bennett), Jordan Lipes (Charley), Evan Dolan (Marvin Hamlisch/Rudy), Carlos Medina (Dr. Nodine/Don), Tyler Stacey (Jean-Claude Chevray/Fred), Heather Priedhorsky (Sophie), Mandi Corrao (Felicia Lipshitz), Kayla White (Lucy), Brittany Amber (Mona), Kelsey Bearman (Vera), Julia Cicchino (Ginger), Erica Werner (Cyd), Chris Long (Understudy-Ed).
