D.I.Y. Chocolate Truffle Class

When: Thursday, February 8, 2018

Time: 7:00-9:00 pm

Where: TBA

Fee: $10 (covers chocolate and supplies)

Register by: February 6, 2018

Melinda Baur and Cindy Honegger teach the basics of chocolate confectionery by making chocolate truffles. This two hour class will cover types of chocolate, basic molding techniques, ganache fillings, and chocolate tempering plus a little chocolate history and some chocolate chemistry! Participants will take home truffles (for themselves or perhaps a special valentine). Detailed location information will be given after registration.


Fix It Friday 

When: Friday, February 9, 2018

Time: 11-3pm

Where:Memorial center, Nell Eckley lounge

Fix It Friday is a FREE basic sewing, mending, and clothing repair services offered by Illinois State University fashion students. Bring any items in need of basic repair on February 9th from 11-3 to the Nell Eckley lounge, and the Fix It Friday crew will fix it for free!


Be Your Hero: Level 1 Self-Defense class

When: Sunday, March 4th, 2018

Time: 1-5pm

Where: Shirk Center SE classroom

This workshop, broken into four, 1 hour segments, focuses on the following:
  • Basic Footwork and Striking; Paired with an introduction on incorporating/improvising with long and short weapons
  • The ‘A-T-E-G’ targets
  • Introduction to firearm and blade defense
  • Awareness discussion and 'Riot' game
  • Safely and effectively getting up from the ground
  • On the ground and against the wall defense

Guro/Sifu Sam Spence is the Main Instructor of the Band of Brothers Martial Arts Group and Co-owner of the 'BoBMA' Gym with his wife, Samantha.  He has over 15 years of knowledge and experience and is internationally certified in Southeast Asian Martial Arts with a focus on the Filipino Martial Arts.  The Band of Brothers Martial Arts school in Bloomington, IL is proud and honored to be a part of the Guro Inosanto lineage of martial arts schools and instructors.
