All In for Wesleyan records were shattered on April 8, as an all-time high 3,587 donors collectively raised a record-setting $2,539,574 million in just 24 hours.


Maggie Evans and Chandra Shipley have been named 2021 recipients of the fourth annual Illinois Wesleyan University Leadership Awards for Inclusive Excellence.

4 p.m., Hansen or via ZoomSit Down with Senate - Mercy Davison – Student Senate invites the IWU community to learn about sustainable city initiatives in our own community from Normal Town Planner Mercy Davison. There will be a presentation, student Q/A, and reusable straws for those who RSVP in person. Please fill out the RSVP form.


7 p.m., Virtual – Student Involvement Awards – The Office of Student Involvement invites the campus community to join in recognizing the achievements of student leaders and student organizations. The ceremony will be live-streamed via Zoom.

6:30 p.m., ZoomTake Back the Night – As part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Illinois Wesleyan will join YWCA McLean County Stepping Stones and Illinois State University to Take Back the Night and raise awareness for sexual violence and support survivors in their healing process. Hear from featured speakers and learn more about what services are offered to survivors in our community. You don't have to be a survivor, or even know a survivor, to attend. People of all ages, races, religions, backgrounds and genders are welcome.

Kemp Foundation's Teaching Excellence Award Ceremony – The 2022 recipient of Illinois Wesleyan's highest teaching honor will be announced in a prerecorded ceremony available to view online on Wednesday, April 14.


12 p.m., First Floor, The Ames Library (south patio, weather permitting) – COVID Time Capsule Dedication – The Spring 2021 FYE Citizen Scholars have assembled a time capsule with items and photos that reflect our sense of community, document how we kept each other safe, and provide a snapshot of Titan life during a global pandemic. Members of the Class of 2024 were also invited to write a letter to themselves which will be stored in the capsule to be opened in 2029 at our five-year homecoming. Pieces of those letters were the inspiration for an original poem being read at the dedication ceremony. A Mask Mosaic is a collage of photos of members of the IWU community in their masks. This large format poster will be part of the installation along with the COVID time capsule. It will be on display on the fourth floor of Ames Library near the archives.

4:30 p.m., Hansen and Zoom – Sit Down With Senate - Victoria Folse – Student Senate Advocacy and Awareness Commissioner Julia Hilt will host Director of the IWU School of Nursing and Executive Director of Counseling and Health Services Victoria N. Folse for a discussion about collegiate substance abuse, its immediate effects, longevity, and prevalence. This event will be hybrid with up to 40 students in person at Hansen, and attendees via Zoom. 12 p.m., ZoomRivian in Central Illinois: Adventurous Together – Rivian Communications will provide an update to IWU students, faculty and staff on what is happening at the plant.


5-8 p.m., Eckley Quadrangle – Quad Day – The Campus Activities Board will host activities for students, from carnival rides and inflatables to Stuff-A-Plush and painting. There will also be FREE ice cream. 


7 p.m., Virtual – Titan Talks Esports Event – IWU Esports will host an open conversation with Esports broadcaster and streaming personality, Jon “Fallout” Kefaloukos. He has a wealth of experience in both professional play and Esports broadcasting. Please join us virtually on our IWU Esports Twitch channel to learn about his experience and journey in Esports. This will be a unique event featuring a broad conversation about Fallout followed by time to ask him questions in our stream chat.

12 p.m., IWU Peace Garden (corner of University & Evans) – Peace Garden Spring Honey Harvest – The IWU Peace Garden will host its first Spring Honey Harvesting event. At the event, you will get the chance to help harvest the honey and bring home a jar for yourself! You can come for the whole sha-bang, or just for a short time. Also, don't forget, the plants might shrivel up and die if they see a nose or mouth, so don't forget your mask! In the event of rain, the event will be moved to Sunday, April 18.

School Street Food Pantry


IWU is collecting items for the School Street Food Pantry. Based near Illinois State University, this pantry exclusively serves area college students. IWU students are welcome! Food and non-food items are available every Friday from 4-6 p.m. (see schoolstreetfoodpantry.org for details). We are collecting non-food items to help their inventory including shampoo, conditioner, soap and deodorant. Please drop off any donations at the Student Involvement Center at Hansen or at ARC (Ames Library 113) by Friday, April 16 at noon. Thank you for your support!


Optional COVID-19 Testing


Signups for optional COVID-19 testing are available each week. This is open to students, faculty and staff only, with a cap of 20 participants. The signup deadline is each Tuesday at noon for testing that Wednesday: www.iwu.edu/updates/coronavirus/cases.html#opt-in
