(And Thursday, Sept. 17), 10 a.m.-5 p.m. both days – Hansen Student Center – Flu Shot Clinic – In preparation for the coming flu season, IWU has partnered with Walgreens to make the flu vaccine available on campus for students, faculty and staff.

7 p.m., Virtual: Zoom meeting – Career Center Fall Kickoff Program: "The Importance of a Resilient Spirit" – Mike Mason '80, Chief Security Officer at Verizon and Former Executive Assistant Director at the FBI, will present "Gladiator or Spectator… You Decide: The Importance of a Resilient Spirit." Mason will discuss his almost life-long philosophy that every situation can be turned into an opportunity with the right attitude engaged. As a former U.S. Marine Corps officer, a seasoned executive with the FBI and for the past 12 years a senior vice president and Chief Security Officer at Verizon, Mason has been confronted with countless situations, good and bad, from which he has extracted invaluable lessons. 4 p.m., Virtual: Zoom – Virtual Career Fair Orientation: Chris Brooks, State Farm Recruiter – Never been to a career fair before and have no idea what to expect? Join the Hart Career Center for our Virtual Career Fair Orientation presented by Chris Brooks, a recruiter at State Farm Insurance. He will walk us through virtual fair etiquette, give tips on how to stand out during a virtual fair, tell us what employers look for in candidates, and share other best practices. 7 p.m., Zoom – Floyd Family Virtual Q&A – The Office of Student Involvement, Student Senate, Office of Multifaith Engagement, and the Office of Diversity and Inclusion invite the campus community to join us for a powerful conversation with the aunt and uncle of George Floyd. Nyle Fort, a minister, activist, and scholar, will speak with Angela Harrelson and Selwyn Jones on the on-going effects of racial oppression and police brutality in the Black community. The theme of Health, Healing, and Humanity echoes through the experiences of all those lives touched and lost to racial injustice and brutality. Students, staff, and faculty are invited to hear the first-hand accounts of the effects of discriminatory practices and state-funded acts of violence. Optional COVID-19 Testing

 

In addition to the University's weekly surveillance testing of selected students, we have increased the number of available voluntary registration spots for students, faculty and staff who wish to "opt in" for testing on Wednesday, Sept. 16. This is open to students, faculty and staff only with a cap of 40 participants. We are encouraging folks with cars to continue to use the Interstate Center, so that students without transportation are prioritized for campus-based testing.

 

Deadline for registration is Tuesday, Sept. 15 at noon. Please register using this link.
