The campus community will honor Associate Dean of Students / Chaplain Elyse Nelson Winger, who has been named University Chaplain at Tufts University, while we welcome Lynda Duke as Interim Assistant Dean of Students and the Rev. Dr. Monica Corsaro as Interim Chaplain and leader of Multifaith Engagement.

As Terrance M. McKinley recently wrote, "Wherever you are, whatever platform you have, whatever sphere of influence you enjoy, the time is now for all of us to do something...The time is take a stand, to become active...The time is now to raise our voices and to call on our nation to recognize the effects of racism in our criminal justice system..." And the time is now to keep building the community we're called to be at Illinois Wesleyan. Sponsored by the Office of Multifaith Engagement and Office of Diversity and Inclusion.

Campus Events

Ames Library Access


Alumni and community access to The Ames Library has been temporarily suspended due to reduced seating capacity. For the near future, access to the building will be limited to current students, faculty, and staff, who must swipe their ID cards enter. Alumni are welcome to request Ames materials for "breezeway pickup" through the Ames Library Catalog. Librarians are also available online Monday - Friday from 1-4 p.m. The Library will provide updates on changes as they become available.

Do you have a collection you'd like to share? Have you created a scholarly or artistic work? Are you involved with a campus group or sponsoring an event you want others to know about?

The Ames Library Exhibit Team invites staff to contact us about utilizing display space in the library. There are several exhibit spaces in the library to promote guest speakers, organizations, events, achievements or topics of interest that you'd like to share with the campus community.

Student Affairs Staff Update

The campus community is invited to offer best wishes for Associate Dean of Students / Chaplain Elyse Nelson Winger, who has accepted a position as the University Chaplain at Tufts University, where she will lead a team of diverse faith leaders and guide spiritual life and social justice initiatives. A reception is planned Tuesday, Sept. 1, from 3-4:30 p.m. at the Memorial Center Tent – Please sign up for a time to attend so that we don't exceed our 50-guest capacity per time slot.


We will welcome back Lynda Duke, former Associate Provost, to serve as the Interim Assistant Dean of Students for the 2020-21 academic year. Her responsibilities will include student advocacy related to retention and COVID-19 response, Title IX deputy and sexual assault education and prevention, and faculty/staff diversity education as part of the University Council on Diversity intercultural fluency work. Her office will be a combination of virtual connection and weekly in-person office work from Holmes 103.


The Rev. Dr. Monica Corsaro will serve as the Interim Chaplain/Office of Multifaith Engagement for this year (3/4 time). Monica joins us from Knox College, where she served as the Director of Spiritual Life. She will coordinate our multifaith and interfaith educational programming and provide pastoral care in these uncertain times. She replaces Stuart Haruyama (program coordinator) and the Chaplain responsibilities from Elyse's role. Her office is in Evelyn Chapel.
