Grant$15,000 Scholarship Grant from the Consulado General de México Awarded to IWU
A scholarship grant to support students of Mexican origin or Mexican descent was awarded to Illinois Wesleyan – one of just three institutions of higher education and the only school outside of Chicagoland to receive funding from the Chicago consulate.

Hart Career Center – Employer Interviews – Accenture representatives will host interviews for students.


11 a.m.-1 p.m., and 5-7 p.m., Dugout Table, Memorial Center – Finals Stress Relief with NAMI On Campus – All IWU students are invited to visit NAMI On Campus while supplies last. NAMI will be giving out finals stress relief goodie bags, including some fun stress relievers and handouts informing students about mental health on college campuses and ways to beat Seasonal Affective Disorder.


12 p.m., Davidson Room, Memorial Center – Non-Org - "Less Work, More Learning: The Analysis of Values Assessment Project of 2016-2017" Professor of Political Science Jim Simeone will discuss how 14 colleagues created two rubrics and used them to directly assess over 70 pieces of student work. He will share the results of the project and share the "breakthrough" rubric idea, which might radically lighten assessment workloads.

11 a.m.-1p.m., Basement Rotunda, The Ames Library – Revolution Hall Course Cluster Open House – This is a special event hosted by the course cluster faculty and students featuring their work and understanding of the annual theme, The Evolution of Revolution. All faculty, staff and students are invited.


11 a.m.-1 p.m., Eckley Lounge, Memorial Center – BAC Alcohol and Drug Table – Stop by and have a beer! Students are invited to join the Peer Educators of SOCA for a root beer float and pick up a BAC card to help you learn how to drink responsibly if you choose to drink. There will also be information about different drugs, how these drugs look and how these drugs affect the body. Sponsored by CCS (Counseling and Consultation Services) and SOCA (Students Organizing Campus Awareness).

Reading Day (NO CLASSES)

 

7-10 p.m., The Ames Library – Reading Day Massages and Finals Help – Join us at The Ames Library on Reading Day to de-stress with a massage and get one-on-one help with finals from a librarian. Two professional masseuses will be offering free 10-minute massages to students. Librarian Sarah Lindenbaum will be on hand to provide help with final papers, projects, and any other questions. Need help tracking down an article or figuring out how to format citations for your bibliography? Don't know where to start with that paper? She's got you covered! The sign-up sheet for massages is on Lindenbaum's door in Ames 145 (main floor). Act quickly, because space is limited.


9 p.m., Fellowship Area, Evelyn Chapel – Holiday Study Break at Evelyn Chapel – Take a break from finals and enjoy an hour of holiday music, cookie decorating and eating, hot chocolate, and a surprise guest! Sponsored by Evelyn Chapel.

Instead of distributing the bi-weekly payroll calendar and timecard deadlines to employees on paper, for next year the calendar has been made available online at www.iwu.edu/business-office/payroll/time_card_dates.html.

Faculty and staff are invited to the annual Illinois Wesleyan University Holiday Luncheon.

 

If you plan on attending, please RSVP by Monday, Dec. 11 at “rsvp@iwu.edu” or call 556-3540 so we have a correct meal count. Please indicate special dietary needs when you RSVP. Your RSVP will enter you in the gift drawing. If you don’t want to be in drawing, indicate that when you RSVP.

2018 Insurance - Open Enrollment  

Have you decided to make a change to your medical and/or dental coverage (switch plan options or add/delete a dependent)? These changes will be effective Jan. 1, 2018. To guarantee that all changes are in place Jan. 1, we will need your completed enrollment form returned to Human Resources by today (Dec. 4). Please contact Marie at ext. 3971 to get an enrollment form.  

Enrollment forms received after Dec. 4, but no later than Dec. 31, will be processed as soon as possible. You will have coverage effective Jan. 1, but you may not have your insurance cards prior to Jan. 1.  

If you do not wish to make any changes to your medical/dental coverage, you do not need to do anything.

Annual Flex Enrollment

Please remember to return your Flex form to the Human Resources Office by Monday, Dec. 11Even if you do not wish to participate in Flex, the form still needs to be returned to HR. If you have questions or need help completing your form, please contact Marie at ext. 3971.

Residence Hall Access for Winter Break

All IWU residence halls and fraternities will be closing for the 2017 Winter Recess on Friday, Dec. 15 at 6 p.m., and will not reopen until Tuesday, Jan. 9 at 9 a.m. (Please note that the IWU student planner contains the wrong date for the hall closings.)

  

If you need to stay in your hall or to have access to it during the break, you must request access as soon as possible. 

  • You will need approval to receive break access to the building
  • For Winter Recess, you should make that request online at the link below before 8 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 11 to avoid charges
  • More information about approved reasons for staying and requesting break access is available at www.iwu.edu/orl/info/bk/
  • If you live in a residence hall and have questions, please contact your residence director
  • If you live in a fraternity and have questions, please contact Alanna Hill at ahill4@iwu.edu
