Julia Cheng


Visiting Assistant Professor of Sociology

Julia Cheng studies cultural entrepreneurship in market formation, with a focus on information intermediaries in value creation of new industries. She’s currently pursuing artificial intelligence research and machine learning projects. Her most recent research applies NLP approaches to analyzing media influences in the building of a preclinical industry. She also has published research on organization and migration.

Julia is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Sociology at Illinois Wesleyan University. She was an International Research Fellow at Japan Society for the Promotion of Science and received a Ph.D. in Sociology in 2018 from University at Albany, SUNY.
