The Phi Beta Kappa Liberal Arts Scholar Award fosters and celebrates student research that “engages, translates, and bridges academic disciplines and/or crosses traditional academic boundaries.”
Applicants for this award submit a research paper, a senior seminar paper, honors research paper, or senior-level independent research paper; a work of art, composition, film, collection of poetry or research that stems from experiential learning. This year there is a $100 prize for the award, to be split if there are multiple winners.
Any IWU senior or December 2017 graduate is eligible to apply for this award. Membership in Phi Beta Kappa is not required.
The award-winning project(s) and other excellent submissions will be published in CrissCross: IWU Lambda Chapter’s on-line journal of interdisciplinary work.
To apply, please submit your interdisciplinary project in digital form via email to Prof. Rebecca Gearhart Mafazy (firstname.lastname@example.org). Please attach a completed version of this cover page with an abstract of your work. Please also attach a completed copy of this release form that will allow us to publish your work in CrissCross.
Deadline for submissions is Monday, April 16, 2018.
New members of PBK will be inducted at the 18th Annual Initiation Ceremony, on Sunday, April 22, 2017 at 7:00 pm, in Evelyn Chapel. Click here for pictures from previous years' ceremonies.
