Amy Yeates

Visiting Instructor



Dr. Amy L. Yeates received a B.S.N. from the University of Illinois in Springfield in 1990, an M.S. in Geriatric Nursing from Saint Louis University in 2008, and her DNP from Rush University in August, 2015.  Dr. Yeates' research focus is care of the psychiatric patient in the Emergency Department.


Prior to joining the faculty at Illinois Wesleyan University in 2009, Dr. Yeates was the Director of Clinical Support at the Springfield Clinic. The majority of her professional career was spent at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield in various positions in Adult Psychiatric Nursing including Nurse Manager, Nurse Educator, and Staff Nurse. Additionally, she served as the Coordinator of Nursing Education, Central Nursing Educator, and Nurse Recruiter at St. John’s.

Honors and Memberships

Dr. Yeates is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and the American Psychiatric Nurse's Association.
