Connie Dennis, PhD, RN

Connie M. Dennis received her B.S.N. at Illinois Wesleyan University in 1972, her M.S.N. in pediatrics and education at the University of Arizona in 1975 and her Ph.D. in educational administration & foundations at Illinois State University in 1990.
In addition to more than three decades teaching at Illinois Wesleyan, Dr. Dennis has worked as a staff nurse in maternal-child care and obstetrics at BroMenn Regional Medical Center and Brokaw Hospital in Normal and at St. Joseph's Hospital in Bloomington. She has served on McLean County Health Department task forces on infant mortality and on sexually transmitted diseases.
Dr. Dennis has worked to develop teaching strategies to promote transcultural competency in nursing. She has published and lectured extensively on topics including dependent care, self-care and nursing theory.
Honors & Memberships
Dr. Dennis received a Nurse Educator Fellowship from the Illinois Board of Higher Education and the Illinois Board of Nursing in 2008. She is a member of the American Nurses Association, the Illinois Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau International, the International Orem Society, the Transcultural Nursing Society and Alpha Tau Delta national nursing fraternity.
