Visiting Assistant Professor of Nursing
Dr. Amy M. Funk earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology in 1990 followed by a master’s degree in Gerontology in 1991 both from Western Illinois University. In 2012, she completed her B.S.N from Saint Francis Medical Center College of Nursing. In 2015, Dr. Funk earned her Ph.D. from Illinois State University’s Mennonite College of Nursing. Dr. Funk achieved board certification in Gerontological Nursing in 2014.
Prior to joining the faculty at Illinois Wesleyan University in 2016, Dr. Funk taught at Methodist College of Nursing and served as the Advance Care Planning Coordinator for OSF Health Systems. Dr. Funk has worked as a Registered Nurse at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center and Advocate Eureka Hospital in addition to serving as the Director of Social Service for Aspen Ridge Care Centre and Apostolic Christian Home of Roanoke.
Honors and Memberships
Dr. Funk received the Dr. Jean Aldag Award for Outstanding Commitment to Education, Research, Health and Social Services as well as Saint Francis Medical Center College of Nursing “Excellence in Nursing” Award. Dr. Funk is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, The National Gerontological Nursing Association, Midwest Nursing Research Society, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and The Council for Advancement of Nursing Science.
