Abroad Gilman Scholarship Supports Study Abroad Opportunities

The U.S. Department of State's Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program has awarded a study abroad scholarship to Illinois Wesleyan nursing major Ely Cortez '21 to study in Spain.

Team Ethics Bowl Team Qualifies for Nationals
For the fourth time in the past six years, Illinois Wesleyan's Ethics Bowl team qualified for Nationals at the Upper Midwest Regional competition, finishing among the top four teams amid contenders that included Carleton College, DePauw University and Northwestern University.

KimStudents Share Freeman Asia Internship Experiences
Learning through immersive internships at 16 sites across Asia, a record 36 IWU Freeman Asia interns shared their life-changing experiences during an October poster presentation.

Shannon Maloney '18 Named As Rotary Scholar
Saying "IWU encouraged me to pursue my dreams and gave me the tools necessary to move forward," Shannon Maloney '18 has been awarded a $33,000 scholarship through Rotary International to help fund her studies at the University of Oxford.

10 a.m.-3:30 p.m., Hart Career Center, Welcome Center – Hart Career Center Walk-In Wednesday – Bring your resume and have Hart Career Center staff review it, ask a quick question about Handshake, our career services management system, or get help setting up your profile.


6 p.m., Turfler Room, Memorial Center – Breaking Stigma Trivia – Students are invited for a game of Kahoot centered around mental illness, as a way to spread awareness and break up the stigma of talking about mental health. Sponsored by the Campus Activities Board and the campus chapter of NAMI.


7 p.m., Shirk Center – Women's Basketball vs. Millikin University – Live streaming video at www.iwu.edu/livesports.

Through Saturday, Feb. 9 Council for IWU Women Summit: Navigating Change – Women students, alumnae, faculty and staff are welcome to join the Council for IWU Women as they share time, talent and resources to support the personal and professional development of the women of IWU. She Speaks, powered by PechaKucha, will feature women sharing their stories at 6 p.m. at Hansen Student Center.


12 p.m., Welcome Center Auditorium, Welcome Center – FYFF-Job Search Strategies – You have the resume, but how do you find the job? Students are invited to come to the Welcome Center Auditorium for lunch and some great advice, as part of the For Your Future Fridays series from the Hart Career Center.


Saturday, Feb. 9


4 p.m., Hansen Student Center – TitanThon – The student-run TitanThon celebrates student fundraising efforts and the work done at the Children's Hospital of Illinois with family stories and an event full of fun activities.


5 & 7 p.m., Shirk Center – Women's and Men's Basketball vs. Elmhurst College - Seniors' Night – Live streaming video at www.iwu.edu/livesports.

 

 

Sunday, Feb. 10

 

5:30 p.m., Young Main Lounge, Memorial Center – Lunar New Year Celebration – Enjoy an Asian dinner while watching a variety of Asian cultural performances to mark the Year of the Pig. Sponsored by the Chinese Culture and Communications Club, Japanese Language and Culture Club, Korean Culture Club and Cypher Dance Team.
