• The Illinois Wesleyan women's basketball team won a share of its seventh College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin championship at the Shirk Center on Saturday, Feb. 20, and will host next weekend's conference postseason tourney. The men's basketball team defeated Elmhurst and will compete in the CCIW tournament next weekend at Rock Island, Ill.

• The Illinois Wesleyan women's indoor track team is ranked No. 1 in the National Team Computer Rankings released Feb. 16 by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

• Associate Professor of Sociology Meghan Burke gave a talk, "Racing Left and Right: Colorblind Racism’s Dominance Across the U.S. Political Spectrum," for the Illinois State University sociology research colloquium "brown bag" series on Feb. 19.


• Betty Ritchie-Birrer '47 and Ivan Birrer Endowed Professor William Munro, who teaches a course on the social history of chocolate, discussed chocolate's history and its controversies, including the use of slave and child labor, in a talk in Shorewood, Wisconsin on Feb. 15.
  
  
• Sara (Kummer) Mayer '99 and Wesleyan's Action Research Center Director Deborah Halperin have been nominated by the Bloomington-Normal chapter of the Association for Women in Communications (AWC) for its Communication Innovation Award.
  
  In addition, Sarah Julian '07 is nominated for the Crystal Award as the chapter's top member of the year. Award recipients will be announced Feb. 25 at the association's Crystal Awards event.
