A series of events are planned for Illinois Wesleyan community members during the week of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, with the theme "The Urgency of Now."

11 a.m., Zoom and Hansen Student Center – Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Teach-In – Dr. Timothy E. Lewis, Assistant Professor of Political Science at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, will speak on "Exposing the Truth of the American Lie: From MLK to CRT."

7 p.m., Hansen Student Center and Virtual – From IWU to Airline Start-up: The Journey of an Entrepreneur – Babawande Afolabi, IWU Class of 2010 alumnus, will share his career path from IWU to developing an airline start-up. Babawande Afolabi is the Founder and CEO of Green Africa, a value carrier based in Lagos, Nigeria that offers safe, reliable, and affordable air travel aimed to serve a broader group of customers. Optional on-campus COVID-19 testing is open to students, faculty and staff. If you would like to participate, please sign up here. Testing is available Wednesdays, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Shirk Center. Unvaccinated students will test weekly automatically and do not need to sign up. Deadline for registration is 1 p.m. Monday before the testing date.
