Professor and Chair of English Joanne Diaz was named the 2022 recipient of the Kemp Foundation Award for Teaching Excellence. At the virtual ceremony, the University honored 2021 Kemp Honoree, Professor of History Tom Lutze, and retiring members of the faculty.
Five students have been awarded stipends to conduct scholarly research or artistic activity this summer under the mentorship of a faculty member: Katie Fata '22, Joey Kiper '22, Jenna Ney '22, Anjali Patel '23 and Isabel Sperry ’22.

• The Illinois Wesleyan University tennis teams each notched wins in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin competition on Sunday, April 18: the women's team at home against North Park and the men's team on the road against Elmhurst.

10 a.m.-3 p.m., Shirk Center – Pfizer Vaccine Clinic for IWU Community – In cooperation with the McLean County Health Department, Illinois Wesleyan will host a Pfizer vaccine clinic available for all students, faculty and staff. New registrants can sign up here. Students who register will need to either be on campus, live locally, or commute to campus on May 11 for the second dose.


12:30 p.m., McPherson Beach – Diaz-Ferradans Poetry Reading – In honor of National Poetry Month, International Studies and World Languages, Literatures and Cultures will sponsor readings from Professor and Chair of English Joanne Diaz's poetry collection "La Ruta: Walter Benjamin's Last Passage" followed by Spanish translations by Professor of Hispanic Studies Carmela Ferradans.

Log into your Moodle account and click on the link to access the evaluations for your classes. Your anonymous feedback is key to ensuring the most effective class improvement.
Optional COVID-19 Testing
Signups for optional COVID-19 testing are available each week. This is open to students, faculty and staff only, with a cap of 20 participants. The signup deadline is each Tuesday at noon for testing that Wednesday: www.iwu.edu/updates/coronavirus/cases.html#opt-in
Gianina (Taylor) Baker ’04 will present “Reframing Assessment in a Post-Pandemic World” at a virtual event hosted by Seton Hall University on May 12.
