Illinois Wesleyan welcomed approximately 420 new students in one of its most diverse entering classes for a week of Turning Titan orientation activities beginning Aug. 22.

Kudos

  • Associate Professor and Information Literacy Librarian Chris Sweet was featured in an episode of the show Impossible Engineering on Discovery Science. The episode focuses on how Tesla cars are made, using hydraulic presses similar to those pioneered in the 1890s by a Chicago bicycle company called Western Wheel Works, which Sweet has researched as part of his scholarship on bicycle history.

  • David Vayo, the Fern Rosetta Sherff Professor of Music, attended the world premiere performance of his Ceremony of Yearning  at the National Recital Hall in Taipei, Taiwan on June 8.  Chen Shih-Cheng conducted the Little Giant Chinese Chamber Orchestra.

  • Two Illinois Wesleyan alumni, Sarah (Sturtevant) Blabolil '03 and Kory Blumer '03, were both promoted to partner with Ernst & Young LLP.

  • Emily Schoerning '05 heads up the Science Booster Club program for the National Center for Science Education. The science outreach initiative is aimed at bringing the science behind climate change and evolution to regular citizens.

Music Auditions - Open to All Instrumentalists

Below are links to the Wind Ensemble and Illinois Wesleyan Symphony Orchestra blogs, where you can find audition information for band and orchestra. All instrumentalists with any experience level are highly encouraged to audition.
