4 p.m., Beckman Auditorium, The Ames Library – Religion Department Student-Faculty Colloquium – Stephanie Kirk of Washington University, St. Louis will speak on "Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz: A Female Intellectual Confronts the Colonial Mexican Church."

Tuesday, Oct. 25

7:30 a.m.-1 p.m., Davidson Room, Memorial Center – Employee Flu Shots – Flu shots are available to employees participating in the IWU health plan, with all costs covered through the plan. Dependents, age 18 years and older, are also eligible for a flu shot at no cost if they are covered by the IWU health plan. If dependents are not covered by the IWU plan, the cost is $30 and payable by check or cash (correct change required) at the time of the shot.

Please bring your BAS card with you so that the cost can be processed by the insurance company. You will be asked to complete a consent form before the flu shot will be administered.

Wednesday, Oct. 26

Through Nov. 4 – Academic Advising for Spring 2017 and May Term

 

8 a.m., Hansen Student Center – Bone Marrow Donor Drive – Alpha Phi Omega urges members of the campus community to register to be a stem cell donor. Registration takes less than five minutes; a cheek swap will provide enough information to register you as a donor in the National Blood Bank. Donating stem cells can save the lives of people with deadly afflictions such as leukemia, lupus, and other autoimmune diseases.


11 a.m., Beckman Auditorium, The Ames Library – Advising and Registration Refresh – Can't remember what the difference between a category and a flag is? Have questions about what general education classes can overlap with major/minor/graduation requirements? Want to make sure you know the most efficient way to search for open classes? Curious about how to read a degree evaluation? Students are invited to the Advising and Registration Refresh for the answers to these questions and many more.


12 p.m., E103, CNS – Academic Skills Series: Writing 101: Crafting Strong Papers – Hosted by the Divisions of Academic and Student Affairs, students are welcome to attend any or all sessions. Free Papa John's pizza provided for lunch.

Thursday, Oct. 27

3 p.m., Joslin Atrium, Memorial Center – Farewell Reception for Chef Tylk – Sodexo invites the campus community to a reception to say goodbye to Mark Tylk, Executive Chef, who is being transferred to Lake Forest Academy in Chicago.

 

 

4 p.m., Basement, Evelyn Chapel – ReligiosiTEA: IWU's Weekly Interfaith Dialogue


5:30 p.m., Pfeiffer and Munsell Halls – Trick or Treating in Pfeiffer and Munsell – Bring your families to campus to "Trick or Treat" in a safe environment, sponsored by the Office of Residential Life. There will be games and treats for children of all ages. Children will go door to door inside these residence halls collecting candy. Parking is located outside of Munsell Hall off of Main street or behind Gulick Hall. You do not need a permit to park in these lots after 5 p.m. There may also be some street parking outside of Pfeiffer on University Street.

Presented by Assistant Professor of German, Russian and Asian Languages Jeremy Sather.


7 p.m., Davidson Room, Memorial Center – 3D:  Women and Halloween: Empowering or Degrading? – Sexy cats, sexy nurses, and sexy baseball players: Why do some women lean toward dressing in a “sexy” manner for Halloween? Do these sexy costumes empower or degrade women? This is a Women’s Power, Women’s Justice theme event, sponsored by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion.
