Award-winning children's book illustrator and author Anita Lobel will visit Illinois Wesleyan Feb. 24-25 and speak at two events in celebration of the University's founding.
 Fusco '94 Wins Top Investigative Journalism Award
Chris Fusco '94 and two of his colleagues at the Chicago Sun-Times have won the George Polk Award for Local Reporting.
 Students Receive State Farm Scholarships
The annual State Farm Scholars luncheon brought company representatives together with many of this year's 100 scholarship recipients supported by grants from the State Farm Companies Foundation.
 Schoch '15 Named Outstanding Marketing Student
Michelle Schoch '15 has been recognized as Illinois Wesleyan's Outstanding Marketing Student of the year by the St. Louis professional chapter of the American Marketing Association.
 Dennie Bridges Court Dedicated Saturday
Retiring Athletic Director Dennie Bridges, who coached the men's basketball team to 667 wins over a 36-year span, was honored with the dedication of "Dennie Bridges Court" in the Shirk Center performance gym.

In the first women's lacrosse game in school history, the Titans scored seven first half goals and went on to a 11-3 win over Cornell College at Tucci Stadium on Saturday, Feb. 21.

• 11 a.m. & 3 p.m., Joslin Atrium, Memorial Center – Presidential Search Consultant Open Forums – The Presidential Search consultant, Anne Coyle (Storbeck/Pimentel), will conduct two forums to learn more about what the campus community would like to see in the traits and skill sets of our next president.
• 12:10 p.m., Davidson Room, Memorial Center – Faculty Non-Org: "New Entrepreneurship Initiatives" – Three new initiatives have been in development for several months: three related programs that follow three very separate paths leading to the successful development of student entrepreneurs. The first is an interdisciplinary major in design that capitalizes on our strengths as a liberal arts institution with strengths in the arts and sciences. An entrepreneurial minor and an entrepreneurial certificate are also in process. The external funding for these programs has prompted some faculty discussion regarding possible donor influence on IWU curriculum development. Pragmatic questions have arisen about the long-term funding of these initiatives in a period of diminishing resources. Members of the faculty have developed the proposals, and will be present to answer questions.

The workshop explores lesbian, gay and bisexual identity, culture, gender, gender identity and the experiences of transgender people. • 7 p.m., Hansen Student Center – 3D Series: Dicktations! – With a cast of seven IWU students and two staff members, Dicktations is an interactive program that uses monologues, skits and improvised scenes to call attention to manhood at the intersection of relationships, fatherhood, sexuality, brotherhood, and masculinity. Although these topics are addressed in a variety of ways, the overarching goal of Dicktations is to get the audience to think at a deeper and more critical level about a) what it means to be a man in this society, b) the implications behind men having to "fit" into a certain image, and c) how can men be their true authentic selves in a society filled with so many expectations.

• 4 p.m., Welcome Center Auditorium – Faculty Convocation: "Copyright, Plagiarism and International Students" – Kevin Smith, director of the Office of Scholarly Communications at Duke University, will share his expertise on how copyright is practiced internationally, provide some tools to help faculty assist our students – especially those from other countries – to avoid plagiarism, and consider a couple of assignments that help underscore the concepts of copyright. Smith's visit is supported by the Mellon grant on Writing in the Disciplines and Information Literacy.
• 5:15 p.m., Bertholf Commons, Memorial Center – Battle of the Chefs – It's time for students to express their inner chef! Two teams of students will compete for the title of "best chefs on campus." Winners will have their names on a trophy that will be displayed in the Memorial Center, and have their meal served to the student body at some point in March. Dave Nicholson ("Saga Dave") will emcee the event. Sponsored by Sodexo.

Alpha Phi Omega is hosting a free babysitting service here on campus on Friday, Feb. 27 from 6-10 p.m. at CNS E105. Members of Alpha Phi Omega, the service fraternity of IWU, will have games, fun activities, and snacks! The new English as a Second Language Service at IWU seeks to support the University's international students and their academic and professional needs by providing ESL instruction and help with academic writing, reading and speaking. Our primary goal is to enhance the learning experience of international students and support the University's community.

• Korey Williams '12 has won the Colloquium Thesis Award for his master's thesis, titled The Harder Parts, in the University of Chicago Master of Arts Program in the Humanities. Colloquium editors devoted the most attention to Williams' work in their comments regarding the four Thesis Award winners.
Williams is currently enrolled in the MFA program at Cornell University.
• Ryan Simpson '10 accepted the position of director of education at the Spotlight Youth Theater in Cary, Illinois.
