Ondra Healthcare Policy Expert to Speak at Commencement
Dr. Stephen L. Ondra '80, a former military surgeon and leading healthcare policy expert, will deliver Illinois Wesleyan's Commencement address as the University celebrates graduates in the Class of 2019 on Sunday, May 5.

Steinway Frevert Gift Enables All-Steinway School Designation
Thanks to a $3.5 million gift from the C.B. Frevert Family Trust, Illinois Wesleyan will become one of 153 universities in the world distinguished as an All-Steinway School, enabling students to learn on instruments of the highest quality.

Macey Students Establish Donation Program for Local Homeless Shelters
Rather than letting leftover student meal swipes go to waste at the end of the semester, Macey Grant '20 and Lakshmi Jayam '22 organized a meal swipe donation program to benefit Bloomington's Salvation Army and Home Sweet Home Ministries.

  • The Illinois Wesleyan softball team clinched its 16th College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) softball title in program history by winning games over Carroll on Sunday, April 28, at IWU Softball Field.

  • With a Seniors' Day win over the University of Dubuque at Tucci Stadium on Saturday, April 27, the women's lacrosse team has won two CCIW regular season titles in the five-year history of the program.

  • The men's lacrosse team secured the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin regular season title with a win over Carroll University in Waukesha, Wisconsin, on Saturday, April 27 – the team's third-straight CCIW title.

In recent highlights, Alice Arnold ’75 recently completed her 44th year as an educator, including the past 21 as a professor at East Carolina University. She has been recognized professionally on multiple occasions by the National Art Education Association and the North Carolina Art Education Association. In 2015, she was named one of East Carolina’s “Women of Distinction,” recognizing outstanding contributions from women in the campus community. Read more.

Charles and Joyce Eichhorn Ames Professor of Physics Gabe Spalding traveled to Washington, D.C., to spend the day on Friday, April 26, talking to congressional representatives and senators about STEM Education, with a team from the American Association of Physics Teachers and the American Institute of Physics. Spalding is currently in his first year of a four-year term as Director-At-Large of the American Association of Physics Teachers.
