Kim Students Share Freeman Asia Internship Experiences
Learning through immersive internships at 16 sites across Asia, a record 36 IWU Freeman Asia interns shared their life-changing experiences during an October poster presentation.

Writing Annual Best Gateway Essay Contest Winners Announced
The Illinois Wesleyan Writing Committee has selected the top essays in the 2017-18 Best Gateway Essay Contest. The winner is Suzanne Zhang '21 for "Critical Thinking and Buddhism."

  • For the second straight year and sixth time overall, the Illinois Wesleyan volleyball team will play in the NCAA Division III Volleyball Tournament. The No. 12-ranked Titans, winners of 20 straight, won the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin tournament Nov. 3 at the Shirk Center.

  • The women's soccer team won the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin tournament championship and the league's automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament — its sixth consecutive and 11th overall NCAA Division III tournament appearance.

  • Visiting Assistant Professor and Outreach Librarian Sarah Lindenbaum has had her research paper, "Frances Wolfreston Revivified: New Biographical and Bibliographical Evidence for a Late Renaissance Woman Reader," accepted by the Renaissance Society of America for its March 2019 conference in Toronto, Ontario. For the past five years, Sarah has been working to reconstruct Wolfreston's library and to further the understanding of early modern women's libraries. Her research on Wolfreston was supported by a Visiting Fellowship at Harvard's Houghton Library in 2017.

  • Professor of Anthropology Chuck Springwood published "The Age of Dwindling American Empire: Soldiers, Gaming, and Affective Labor in Warzones." Cultural Studies ↔ Critical Methodologies, 2018.

  • Associate Professor and Information Literacy Librarian Chris Sweet was invited to curate a bicycling history exhibit at the Design Museum of Chicago. He gave a presentation, “Chicago Cycles: 150 Years of Bicycle Design and Innovation” on Nov. 3 at the museum.
