Research conducted primarily by Illinois Wesleyan undergraduate students has been downloaded more than 3 million times over the past decade – by scholars around the world – from the Digital Commons @ IWU (DC@IWU).

Formed at Illinois Wesleyan University more than five years ago, the now Chicago-based indie rock-pop band Red Scarves released the quintet's IWU-influenced debut full-length album, "Sort of Scarlet," on Friday, Oct. 20.

  • Physics alumnus Andy Nelson '08 has been appointed director of the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center International Research Office in London. Nelson most recently served as the Energy Branch chief at the Construction Engineering Research Laboratory in Champaign.

  • B. Charles and Joyce Eichhorn Ames Professor of Physics Gabe Spalding has been re-elected as Vice President of the Jonathan F. Reichert Foundation, an ambitious non-profit working nationally to establish programs and grants for hands-on instructional laboratories in physics beyond the first year of university.
    In addition, Spalding delivered an invited talk on Oct. 20 at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, entitled, "Experiment-based Modern Physics Videos."
