YanaFeminist Economist, World Bank Consultant to Deliver Eckley Lecture
Yana van der Meulen Rodgers, a feminist economist who regularly consults for the World Bank and the United Nations, will present the Eckley Lecture in Economics on Feb. 8.
AndrewShallue Honored for Best Talk at Recent Conference
Associate Professor of Mathematics Andrew Shallue was awarded the Dick Lehman Award for "Best Talk" at the recent West Coast Number Theory conference.

The Dean's List for the fall semester of the 2016-17 academic year includes 772 students from 25 states and 15 countries.

AwardsThe IWU Alumni Association Nominating Committee needs your help compiling a list of alumni candidates for the Alumni Award categories below.


The Distinguished Alumni Award
This award is presented annually to a person who has made a distinguished contribution to society, has achieved professional distinction, or has demonstrated civic leadership.


The Robert M. Montgomery Outstanding Young Alumni Award
Named for a 1968 alumnus and former IWU Alumni Director, this award recognizes young alumni for outstanding professional achievement, civic leadership, or both. Nominees for this award should be 2002-2016 graduates.


The Loyalty Award
This award recognizes alumni who have benefited Illinois Wesleyan either through service to the University, strong financial support, or both. 


Click here to submit a nomination for a Titan you feel should be considered for recognition. Nominations are due by March 1, 2017. Awards winners are announced at Homecoming. Any forms submitted after this date will be considered for Homecoming of the following year. Please call the Alumni Relations Office at 1-888-498-2586 if you have any questions.

2017 Collegiate Choir Tour
Date: March 5-18
Join Dr. J. Scott Ferguson and the Collegiate Choir for a performance in an area near you.

Their kickoff concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 5 will be at St. John’s Lutheran Church in downtown Lombard, where alum Karl Bruhn '72 is the organist and music director. This concert will be part of the church’s year-long celebration of the 500th anniversary of Martin Luther posting his 95 Theses on the church door in Wittenberg, Germany, starting the Protestant Reformation. Come enjoy the celebration with lots of IWU alumni at this excellent concert.

  • Professor of Sociology Teddy Amoloza was unanimously accepted to the Board of Governors of the Hong Kong-America Center, which works to advance cross-cultural understanding between Chinese and Americans over the bridge of Hong Kong.

  • Scholar in Residence J. E. House has been appointed to the Editorial Board of The Chemical Educator, a peer-reviewed journal that deals with all aspects of education in chemistry. 

  • Brian Baxter '07 has been promoted to the newly created role of Chief Operating Officer for Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras (CYSO). Baxter has been with CYSO since 2008 and currently oversees nearly 600 students in the organization’s on-site orchestra programs, as well as the organization’s Community Engagement Programs, which reach 2,500 students annually. During his tenure at CYSO, Baxter has led international tours to China and Spain and is currently organizing CYSO’s upcoming tour to Central Europe in summer 2017. Most recently, he has been the architect of the organization’s program expansion during its 70th anniversary season, including the new Philharmonic Orchestra and Jazz Orchestra.

Retirement Reception

After nearly 36 years of dedicated service to the campus community, Chuck Adam, director of Campus Security, is retiring. There will be a campus-wide reception for him on Friday, Feb. 3, from 1-2 p.m. in the Joslin Atrium, Memorial Center. Please stop by to bid him a fond farewell. Refreshments will be served.

New Arrival

Assistant Director for Career Development Abby Reel '04 and Jason Reel-Haas welcomed Amos Jason Reel, born Jan. 16 at 7:28 a.m., weighing 8 lbs, 7 ounces and measuring 20 inches long. He joins big sister Leslie, age 5.
