Charlene Illinois Wesleyan to Host Summit on Colorblind Racism
Alumna Charlene Carruthers '07, a nationally recognized voice on racial justice, will be the keynote speaker at a summit bringing together the community and scholars on contemporary racism.
Eric Alumni Collaborate for Chicago Musical Event
Composer Eric Malmquist '07 will premiere his work Blemish'd Muse at a Chicago concert with connections to other School of Music alumni.

  • TommyThe Illinois Wesleyan women's team repeated as winners of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Outdoor Track Championships on May 7 at Augustana College.

  • For the second straight season, senior Matthew Mardis has been elected to the Academic All-District® 7 baseball team and will be on the ballot for the Academic All-America® Team, where All-America honorees will be elected later this month.

  • Adjunct Professor of Chemistry James E. House has been selected to be the Series Editor for a new series of volumes, Developments in Physical and Theoretical Chemistry, to be published by Elsevier/Academic Press. House will be responsible for establishing the scope and direction for the entire series as well as selecting editors for the individual volumes. Each volume will be devoted to a topic in the subject area and will include contributions from recognized specialists. 

  • Chair and Professor of History Michael Weis will speak at Illinois State University's Academy of Seniors on Thursday, May 12, on "Banana Republics? The Importance of the Americas." See details here.

  • Michelle A. Ponschke '11 is the lead author on the article "A Limited Validation and Comparison of 1,2-indanedione and ThermaNin for Latent Print Development on Thermal Paper" published in the Journal of Forensic Identification, Vol. 66, No. 3, pp. 245-258, 2016.
    Michelle completed the M.S. degree in forensic sciences at the University of Illinois, Chicago, and is employed as a forensic scientist in the Trace Evidence Unit of the Michigan State Police Laboratory.

Bike to Work Day Tune-Ups

GREENetwork Friday, May 20, is National Bike to Work Day. The Illinois Wesleyan Bike Coop will hold their first-ever tune-up event all day in the garage behind the IT House. Sign up and bring your bike in after 7:30 a.m. and they'll do all the basics – lubricating the chain, tightening the brakes, etc. while you're at your desk.


The $20 fee will go to further develop the coop by allowing them to buy more tools, parts and accessories. Learn more and sign up here.

The Good To Go Commuter Challenge is back!
