A number of events Thursday, March 31 through Saturday, April 2 will celebrate the inauguration theme "The Liberal Arts in the 21st Century: Spotlight on Collaborative Engagement," including "Do Good" speaker MacArthur Fellow Juan Salgado' 91 and an alumni showcase.

Longtime Illinois Wesleyan student affairs administrator Matthew Damschroder has been named vice president for student life and dean of students at Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pa., effective June 1.

Kallakuri, founder and artistic director of the Nrityamala Dance Academy, will be the featured guest as part of Intersections: A Walking Exploration of Contemporary Religious Practices. Holi is celebrated at the advent of spring to empower the belief in equality, love, honesty, and good nature in one and all. It is a festival of fun and frolic, color and dance. Join us for an interactive hour of classical Indian dance and exploration of the meaning of Holi. Coordinated by Professor Rebecca Gearhart, Chaplain Elyse Nelson Winger and the South Asian Student Association.

7 p.m., Hansen Student Center – Vagina Monologues – (Rescheduled from Feb. 18) A "Nation(s) Divided?" theme event, sponsored by Feminism: Equality Matters (F:EM) and the Office of Diversity and Inclusion. Intended to promote female empowerment, each of the monologues deals with an aspect of the feminine experience, touching on matters such as sex, love, rape, menstruation, and common names for the vagina.

If you have questions about what it means when students use terms like bi/pansexual, non-binary, queer, genderqueer and fluid, this is a safe space to learn more, get answers and become equipped to support students fully in pursuit of communities of respect and inclusion. Free pizza will follow.

 

7 p.m., C101, CNS – Tom Ulrich, Nature Photographer – This year's presentation, "Stock and What-Not," will feature photos of nature from around the world from Ulrich's 40 years as a nature photographer. His narration includes insight on photo technique and animal behavior and is always riddled with humor. Presented by Sugar Grove Nature Center, this event is free with a university ID.
