Wags Wagner Named Athletic Director at Illinois Wesleyan
Longtime associate athletic director Mike Wagner has been named to succeed retiring athletic director Dennie Bridges.

DECA Illinois Wesleyan Students Rank in Top 10 at International Conference
IWU students put their skills and knowledge to the test in competitions judged by business and industry professionals at the Collegiate DECA International Career Development Conference.

Charlotte Four New Graduates to Teach in Japan
Four new Illinois Wesleyan graduates have won competitive positions to teach in Japan starting this fall, one at Technos College in Tokyo and three with the Japanese Exchange and Teaching Program.

Tina Isabelli Awarded Grant to Teach in Madrid
Wesleyan's Christina Isabelli won an IES Abroad grant to teach a summer course in Madrid. Her six-week course in Spanish will examine how social organization and behavior influenced language change.

Becky Nursing Simulation Expert Earns Certification
Becky Altic, who works in the School of Nursing's new simulation center, received designation as a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator through the Society for Simulation in Healthcare.

Wilson President Wilson Gives Commencement Address at Alma Mater
Illinois Wesleyan President Richard F. Wilson presented the commencement address May 9 at his alma mater, Alderson Broaddus University in West Virginia.


• The Illinois Wesleyan men's golf team will play in its ninth consecutive NCAA Division III championships, being held May 12-15 at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, North Carolina.

• Senior Dan Truesdale and junior Matthew Mardis have been elected to the Capital One Academic All-District® 7 baseball team and will be on the ballot for the Capital One Academic All-America® Team.

In recent posts, Ellen Veden '61 is exhibiting her artwork at the Trenton Museum, in Trenton, New Jersey. She recently retired from the global broadcast television industry and has rekindled her passion for painting and drawing, featured in six local art shows and two juried shows since January 2015.

4-6 p.m., IWU Peace Garden, just north of the athletic fields – IWU Interfaith Project at the Peace Garden – Bring a friend and join us for an afternoon of good ol' digging in the dirt followed by pizza! All participants who volunteer for the entire two hours will receive a free IWU Interfaith T-shirt.

• Alice Arnold, professor of art education at East Carolina University, was named one of 10 Women of Distinction by the ECU Chancellor's Committee on the Status of Women. The honor recognizes women who demonstrate outstanding leadership, mentoring, and commitment to diversity, empowerment, equality, equity and/or social justice. The awards are made every other year.

• Cliff Nellis '97, founder and executive director of Lawndale Christian Legal Center, spoke at The University of Chicago Law School about his experience working with youth involved in the criminal justice system.
