4 p.m., Joslin Atrium, Memorial Center -- Senior Music Theatre Cabaret -- Come and join the senior music theatre majors for an early evening of songs to celebrate the last day of classes in the 2012-13 year. The concert will feature genres of music from Broadway to pop.

4 p.m., CLA, second floor reading room -- Retirement Reception -- The campus community is invited to a reception celebrating the retirement of Professor of History Paul Bushnell after 47 years at Illinois Wesleyan.

7 p.m., Beckman Auditorium, The Ames Library -- International Film Series -- A student film festival will feature ethnographic films produced by students enrolled in the course Visual and Ethnographic Methods.

12 p.m., Davidson Room, Memorial Center -- Faculty Non-Org -- Mental Health Counselor Bob Rogers and Associate Dean of Student Affairs Darcy Greder will discuss the Core Alcohol and Drug Survey and the culture surrounding alcohol use at Illinois Wesleyan.

• School of Art alumna Rachel Xidis '96 received the Supportive Professional Staff Presidential Award for Excellence at Northern Illinois University. Xidis is assistant director in the Office of Web Communications at NIU.

• Isaac Funk Professor of German and Russian and Director of International Studies Marina Balina gave a presentation, "Carving a Model Citizen: Screen Adventures of Soviet Pinocchio," at a conference organized by the British Association of Slavic and East European Studies/ICCEES European Congress 2013: "Europe: Crisis and Renewal," April 5-8, 2013, at Cambridge, UK.

In addition, Balina was recently elected to the following appointments:
- The International Committee of the Children's Literature Association.
- The Editorial Board of two international journals:
1) AutobiografiЯ: Journal on Life Writing and the Representation of the Self in Russian Culture, Padova University Press, Italy
2) Children's Readings, an international journal on children's literature and culture, Ekaterinburg University Press, Russia.
