Phishing/Hacking Attempts

Information Technology Services is receiving reports from Google concerning compromised email accounts (due to weak passwords that have been hacked), as well as reports of phishing schemes being received via email within the campus community.

Strong, secure passwords are very important. Use the password strength indicator as a guide at https://passchange.iwu.edu to create and set a secure password.

- Know that Information Technology Services will never request your username and password combination via email for any reason (many phishing schemes falsely claim your email quota has been reached and your email account will be shut down if you do not respond with your username and password).

- Disregard or mark as spam any email phishing schemes that request your username, password, or personal information.

- Always keep your username and password private and secure and do not share your NetID/Password combination with anyone.

If you do happen to reply to a phishing scheme, or feel your account has een compromised, it is important to secure your account by changing your password immediately.

To change your IWU password:
Go to https://passchange.iwu.edu and follow the password change instructions.

If you need additional assistance, please call the Information Technology Services Help Desk at 309-556-3900, email it@iwu.edu, or use the online support request form at help.iwu.edu.
