Chair and Associate Professor of Chemistry Rebecca Roesner was named the 2014 winner of the Kemp Foundation Award for Teaching Excellence at the annual Honors Day Convocation. |

• 7 p.m., Shirk Center Arena -- Tommy Awards 2013 -- The second annual State Farm Tommy Awards will recognize student athletes for their athletic, academic and philanthropic contributions to IWU. State Farm donates funding to the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee to organize and host the event. The awards night will be live streamed.
• 7 p.m., Davidson Room, Memorial Center -- Jeopardy: IWU Multiculturalism -- The Multicultural Educators are sponsoring a Jeopardy game night, inviting students to come and test their knowledge of multiculturalism, with a chance to win $50 in prizes.

• 12 a.m. -- TOMS One Day Without Shoes -- IWU Creativity for Change will join students from across the country in this awareness-raising event.

• 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Eckley Quadrangle -- Clothesline Project -- In conjunction with the local Stepping Stones program, Feminism: Equality Matters will exhibit messages created by survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence about how violence has affected them.
• 11 a.m., Young Lounge and Joslin Atrium, Memorial Center -- Making Human Rights Real Closing Workshop -- Participants in the "Making Human Rights Real" liberal arts cluster of courses will join in discussion.
• 12 p.m., CNS E101 -- Academic Skills Series: Maximizing your Success on Finals -- Students are invited to come and learn strategies for academic success. Free Papa John's pizza will be provided, sponsored by the Academic Advising Center.
• 12 p.m., Shirk Center Performance Arena -- Associates Luncheon -- Colleen Kannaday, president of Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Bloomington and Advocate Eureka Hospital in Eureka, will address the Illinois Wesleyan Associates. (Open to IWU Associates by reservation.)

• Jeff Morriss, a 1973 physics graduate, is among scientists and engineers nominated for the European Inventor Award 2013 for their contributions to technological, social and economic progress. Morriss was part of a team that developed Universal Serial Bus (USB) technology, described as "one of the most important advances in computing since the silicon chip."
• Alumna and Peace Corps Volunteer in Nicaragua, Maggie Byrne '11 ran a Fuego y Agua ultramarathon in Isla de Ometepe, Nicaragua, with fellow Peace Corps volunteers. Described as "extreme endurance events with a philanthropic twist," Fuego y Agua strives to bring responsible ecotourism to Isla de Ometepe.
