Le Nozze di Figaro (“The Marriage of Figaro”) was composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, with libretto by Lorenzo da Ponte. A cornerstone of the opera repertoire, Le Nozze tells the story of the servants Figaro and Susanna marrying, foiling the efforts of their philandering employer Count Almaviva to seduce Susanna.
Visiting Assistant Professor of Music Lev Ivanov and IWSO conductor is music director and conductor of the production, with Visiting Assistant Professor of Music and Opera Theatre program director Robert Mangialardi serving as stage director. Adjunct Instructor of Music Andrew Voelker is vocal coach.
A children’s matinee begins at 12:30 p.m. Nov. 18, with an evening performance at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 18, both at the Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts, 600 N. East St., Bloomington. Both performances are free, but reservations are required for the Friday matinee and available by emailing Mangialardi at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Nov. 19 performance with piano accompaniment will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Westbrook Auditorium on the Illinois Wesleyan campus. Admission is free.
