BLOOMINGTON, Ill.— The Illinois Wesleyan University School of Music’s Symphonic Winds and University Choir will perform on Thursday, Feb. 13 at 7:30 p.m. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held in the Westbrook Auditorium of Presser Hall.
The Symphonic Winds, which consists of 34 music and non-music majors, specializes in a variety of concert band compositions. Conducted by Roger Garrett, assistant professor of music, the ensemble will perform Heroic Fanfare by Scott Copeland, Prelude and Fugue in Bb minor by Johann Sebastian Bach, Lux Aurumque by Eric Whitacre and Toccata for Band by Frank Erickson.
The 40-member University Choir, which consists of music and non-music majors, performs spiritual and secular pieces. Under the direction of Jonathan Green, provost and dean of the faculty, the choir will sing Stabat Mater, a 12-part piece by Giovanni Battista Pergolessi. Susan Klotzbach, University organist and adjunct faculty member, will perform as accompanist and harpsichord.
