Rachel West, B.M.


B.M., Illinois Wesleyan University (2012)

Rachel West joined Illinois Wesleyan University in Fall 2012 as a staff accompanist of the School of Music. In 2013, she also began working for the university as an instructor for the Piano Preparatory Department. 
Originally from Decatur, IL, West graduated with honors from Illinois Wesleyan where she received B.M. in Piano Performance under the guidance of Dr. Lawrence Campbell and Dr. R. Kent Cook. Prior to instruction at Wesleyan, West studied with Dr. Susan S. Cobb of Millikin University. In the past, West has been employed as a teaching assistant and accompanist for Illinois Wesleyan's Cello and Chamber Music Camps as well as for OPUS Chamber Music Camp in Lisle, IL. She performed as the rehearsal pianist for  Les Misérables  through Normal Parks & Recreation and pianist for Bloomington's Prairie Fire Theatre Company in their touring children's opera. 
West has been an avid solo performer and chamber musician, playing with a number of ensembles as well as consistently accompanying for university and private students. She studied abroad in Urbania, Italy through Millikin University and later traveled to Bulgaria with Illinois Wesleyan to participate in the International Chamber Music Festival.
