Nancy Pounds

Adjunct Instructor and Staff Accompanist

Ms. Pounds is an Instructor of Piano and Adjunct Faculty Accompanist at Illinois Wesleyan University, joining the School of Music in 2000.  She earned the M.M. in Piano Performance at Illinois State University where she studied with Tella Marie DeBose. 
Ms. Pounds coaches and performs with music students, teaches applied piano minor lessons, serves as primary accompanist for music recruitment and vocal diction classes, and teaches the course, Beginning Piano for Non-Majors.  She performs regularly at the IWU contemporary music programs and our premier summer program, the Illinois Chamber Music Festival; as faculty accompanist for the IWU Cello Camp; and as Coordinator of Piano at Poco a Poco Summer Music Fest. Ms. Pounds collaborates with a wide range of instruments in varying musical styles, with a particularly extensive cello, vocal, and low brass repertoire.  Fall semester 2018 performances include a collaboration with Dr. Nina Gordon, cellist; Dr. Andy Rozsa, trombone; a performance of the one-woman show, It Just Takes One, in Notre Dame, Indiana, written by and featuring IWU alumna Kate Tombaugh, as well as a performance of piano duet selections from György Kurtág’s Játékok with IWU Professor of Composition, David Vayo.
