Lucy Liu


Lucy Liu holds a PhD in music theory from Indiana University-Bloomington. Her research interests include Schenkerian analysis, theories of rhythm, meter & temporality, Formenlehre (old and new), the music of Brahms, and Stravinsky's neoclassicism. Lucy has given talks at national and regional conferences on these topics, such as the Annual Meetings of the Society for Music Theory, Music Theory Midwest, and the North American Conference on 19th-Century Music. In 2018 her dissertation was awarded the Karl Geiringer Scholarship by the American Brahms Society. Her articles are forthcoming in Music Analysis and Schoenberg in Context. At IWU, Lucy teaches Advanced Analysis and Tonal Counterpoint in addition to the core theory sequence.
