Mock Trial
Students in Prof. Rob Kearney's business law course conduct a mock trial in the courtroom of Judge Elizabeth Robb, a 1978 IWU graduate and chief judge of the 11th Judicial Circuit of Illinois.

The liberal arts environment provides a rich foundation for students preparing for law school, since there is no single undergraduate major that is ideal for all students considering law school.

You’ll benefit from courses that require you to read challenging works, to write papers demonstrating verbal organization of complicated materials, and to develop your speaking skills.

Pre-Law at Illinois Wesleyan — Our Advantages:

  • Our small classes and individual attention will help you develop reading, writing and critical thinking skills that are absolutely essential in successfully pursuing law school.
  • You'll have the flexibility to take courses that interest you where, as a result, you will be more successful – especially since law schools prioritize GPA over a particular course of study.
  • Members of the Pre-Law Advisory Committee will be available to talk with you about your course selections, law school options, applications, personal statements and any other questions about law school you might have.
  • IWU’s general education requirements are designed to help you explore a broad range of disciplines and develop enduring qualities of mind and character. A challenging liberal arts education is indisputably the best pre-law academic preparation that you can pursue.
