Political Science Major

Political science is the study of political systems and the ways they affect our lives. If you plan to play an active role in our society participating in community affairs, analyzing the consequences of international events or seeking an elective office, you must have an understanding of political science.

The Illinois Wesleyan political science program strives for both academic excellence and practical relevance. Our curriculum stresses the acquisition of

  • sophisticated knowledge of different political institutions, processes and policies;
  • analytical skills, quantitative reasoning, and critical thinking; and
  • direct civic engagement and practical experience in government.
