E-mail for your Campus Organization

Many IWU organizations have unique e-mail accounts that we call "org accounts". These accounts have traditionally been located on a server called "orgmail.iwu.edu" but are now being moved to Google, just as our individual mail accounts moved last year.

How do I access my org account?

First, test and sync your password. Enter your org account username on our Password Change page. You can use your current password in all three boxes, or choose a new one. If you don't know your current password, contact the ITS Service Desk to have it reset.

Once your password has successfully synced, log in to the org account through IWU web mail. You should be directed to a confirmation page where you will need to fill out a CAPTCHA form (you may need to scroll down toward the bottom of the page). Type in the letters shown in the box - some may appear to be sideways or displaying in odd font styles and sizes. You will be able to access the org mail account through IWU mail once you have completed this process.

There are three ways to access your org account:

  1. Log in to the IWU web mail
  2. Delegate org account access to a real person's email account. Delegation will grant multiple users access to the org account through IWU web mail without needing to give out the account password. Instructions on adding delegates to an account can be found here.
  3. Adjust the settings in your mail client. Instructions can be found here.

I have too much mail! Or, I don't have enough mail!

Since the switch to Gmail in 2011, mail has been delivered to our Google accounts, then a copy has been sent on to the "orgmail.iwu.edu" server. The Google copies have just been piling up for all that time.

This means that you will probably see some old messages marked as unread in your new Google inbox. Similarly, if you had used a mail client (Thunderbird, Outlook, etc) to create mail folders on your computer those messages will not appear in the Google inbox. If you are missing messages please contact the ITS Service Desk at 309-556-3900.
